What to Get a Nurse Who Has Everything
Share
Nurses get given a lot of things. Most of it is a tote bag with a hospital logo on it, handed out during a week that also involves a pizza in the break room. The gap between what the job actually takes and what gets given for it is the joke everybody on the floor already knows.
So here is the short version of what works, from somebody who has spent a career on the other side of the same shifts.
If you are buying for one nurse
Get something that admits the job is hard rather than something that tries to fix it. That is the whole difference between a gift that lands and a gift that ends up in the staff room donation pile.
PEER TO PEER is a high caffeine blend of single origin Tanzania and Indonesia robusta, for the hours when going home is not one of the options. TWELVE HOURS is a Nicaraguan single origin, named for the shift and not by accident. THE BREAK ROOM tastes like what you wanted from the pot down the hall and never got.
If they do not drink coffee, the loose leaf teas are the better answer. Several are caffeine free, which is the right gift for somebody who is already running on too much of it.
If you do not know how they take it
A six coffee sample pack. Two ounces each, enough for a few pots, and they work out what they like without you having to guess at roast level. The sample packs are our best selling products for exactly this reason, and roughly a third of every order placed so far has included one.
If you are buying for a whole unit
This is where most people overspend on something forgettable. Twenty small identical gifts costs more than one good shared thing and lands softer.
Sample packs work for eight to twenty five people, because everybody gets their own and nobody argues about the roast. For a break room that runs a pot all day, the 2 LB and 5 LB bags are built for it. For a room with no equipment and nobody willing to clean a carafe, capsules and pods.
We have a page for this: bulk and wholesale orders. Email rather than adding forty things to a cart.
When to order for Nurses Week
Nurses Week runs May 6 to 12. If you are ordering for a unit, decide in March. Employer gifting decisions are usually made six to eight weeks ahead, and everything here is roasted in frequent small batches based on customer demand, so late April is already tight.
The one rule
Nothing in this shop makes a punchline out of a diagnosis. The jokes are aimed at prior authorization, the schedule, the hold music and the paperwork. Never at a patient, and never at an illness. Your nurse works with those patients. A gift that laughs at them is not a gift.
More from us: the gift guide by recipient, sorted by who you are buying for, and who owns your doctor, the reason a physician-owned coffee company exists at all.
